The Aspinall Foundation's Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent is a family day out where education, conservation and fun combine. Set in over 100 acres of beautiful ancient parkland, Howletts is home to some of the world's most rare and endangered animals, including the world's biggest captive group of Western Lowland gorillas, Snow leopards, Iberian wolves and Black rhino.
Howletts, with its sister park Port Lympne, was set up by the late John Aspinall as a centre of excellence for animal husbandry. Its lasting aim has been to protect and breed threatened species, with a view to returning them to the wild wherever possible. The Aspinall Foundation is the charity that manages the parks and manages projects both in the UK and overseas.
Visitors can walk among the resident family of lively Lemurs at 'Walking with Lemurs', or enjoy unforgettable close encounters at the glass fronted tiger enclosures. They can even marvel at the largest herd of African elephants in the UK.
NEW 2010 - Tree Top Challenge. Brave this high rope adventure and negotiate your way across treacherous tyres, perilous tightropes, wobbly logs and balancing beams between platforms high in the tree tops!
There are picnic facilities throughout the park and a variety of hot and cold dishes available in the Pavilion Restaurant.
The Aspinall Foundation and its work at the Kent Parks and overseas is funded solely by charitable donations.
